Created in the context of allesgut, Björn Wandels’ solo exhibition at nodenaysteen, the SCREEN edition occupies a particular position within the project. Wandels selected this image because he sees it as a bridge between two dimensions of his work: photography and moving image. The face, obscured by a white rectangular surface, becomes almost a screen — an empty space onto which another image might appear.
For the artist, the work expresses a desire to capture on film what exists in the mind, as though the head or face itself could become a blank screen for future cinematic projections.
Produced in Ghent in collaboration with Atelier Alexander Saenen and Fotoshop Gent, bringing together photographic printing, mounting and framing.
